A clever new bedroom hidden within a 1930s living room
For this family of four in a classic Amsterdam apartment, the challenge was clear: add a bedroom without losing the home’s character. Preserving the open kitchen layout, the steel doors, and the book-lined charm was non-negotiable.
The solution? A small office corner off the living room was reimagined into a full bedroom – complete with a dressing area and a functional workspace – reusing the existing steel doors to keep the aesthetic seamless.
To maintain the sense of volume throughout, bespoke niches were added in both the bedroom and the hallway: a simple, elegant touch that gains storage without sacrificing space.
